El lugar es fantástico para una estancia tranquila y agradable, en medio del campo. La cena de bienvenida y el desayuno, fantásticos, muy bien preparados y con lujo de detalles. Todo exacto que las fotos, muy limpio, ordenado, perfecto. Buenas indicaciones por parte de David de todo lo que le preguntaba. No muy lejos de un supermercado grande. Buscaba unos días de descanso y el lugar ha sido perfecto. Desde luego lo recomiendo y espero tener ocasión de regresar. Un placer haberme alojado en vuestro B&B. Precioso y todo magnífico. The place is fantastic for a quiet and pleasant stay, in the middle of the countryside. The welcome dinner and breakfast, fantastic, very well prepared and with great attention to detail. Everything is exactly as shown in the photos, very clean, tidy, perfect. Good directions from David about everything I asked him. Not far from a large supermarket. I was looking for a few days of rest and the place was perfect. I definitely recommend it and I hope to have the chance to return. A pleasure to have stayed at your B&B. We voelden ons heel welkom in de gîte. Het ontvangst was warm en vriendelijk. De mogelijkheid om ontbijt te bestellen vonden we een leuke extra – en het was ook nog eens erg lekker! De gîte zelf was kraaknet en zeer goed uitgerust: alles wat we nodig hadden, was aanwezig. De locatie is ideaal voor wie op zoek is naar rust en natuur. Kortom: een aanrader. We spent a wonderful week vacationing at Helen and David's L'Hirondelle cottage. Their kindness and helpfulness were beyond compare. They prepared our breakfasts and dinners, which were exquisite. The peace and quiet, the restful atmosphere, the comfortable bedding, everything was perfect. We will be returning very soon.

This was our second stay at La Martiniére after a short visit two years ago. Based here for cycling La Voie Verte. It was so good to have a secure place to store our bikes and to charge them overnight. David and Helen were very helpful having left our charger in the UK and sourced another one for us to use. We opted for continental breakfast and had two evening meals which were delicious. As good as anything you would eat in a local restaurant. Many thanks again for your friendly welcome and kind hospitality.

We were so taken with the photos of the gîte on the website, but staying in the beautifully decorated barn, experiencing your hospitality and the little touches in making our holiday memorable took it to another level. We apprecaited the generous 'welcome basket' and guest manual was so comprehensive in planning our daily sight seeing trips. The gîte really feels like 'home' with such a comfortable bed and well equiped kitchen. The hairdryer witha diffuser was a nice touch. Our 5th and final visit to La Martinière as we have now bought our own piece of France! We have always enjoyed our time here and David and Helen are such wonderful hosts. Wonderful time relaxing at David and Helen’s gite, which was exactly as described and as we wanted. Spotlessly clean and really well decorated to a high standard and furnished with a great super-king sized bed. Absolutely perfect for couples looking to relax or use as a base for exploring further afield or the local area. Definitely worth taking them up on the food as it was all excellently cooked and presented - both breakfast and the evening meals. Will be hard pressed to find many other places matching this for quality and comfort, and really friendly and attentive hosts.

Cela vaut vraiment la peine de les prendre au mot sur la nourriture car tout était excellemment cuisiné et présenté, que ce soit le petit-déjeuner ou les repas du soir. Il sera difficile de trouver beaucoup d'autres endroits comparables en termes de qualité et de confort, et des hôtes vraiment sympathiques et attentifs. 

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans ce gîte charmant, paisible, le logement est très confortable et bien meublé. La terrasse et le jardin sont un plus très appréciable. Enfin, les autres ont été réactif, accueillant et extrêmement gentil.

The gite has been beautifully and thoughtfully renovated, is very well organised and clean. We had such a wonderful stay! The hosts were incredibly lovely and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The peaceful, beautiful natural surroundings added to the relaxing atmosphere. The property itself is amazing – the kitchen and living room are spacious and well-equipped, with a cozy wood fire that made evenings extra special. The bedroom was generously sized, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Everything has been thoughtfully arranged to a high standard, clearly designed with guests’ comfort in mind. Excellent value for money – we couldn’t have asked for more!

An idyllic location which brough back memories of my time as an au-pair. Rural, calm and away from the world. The weather was kind for the time of year and it was lovely to sit on the terrasse with a pot of tea and a good book. I very much enjoyed exploring the area and preparing the impending school trip with 70 pupils. Not so calm then .......

Nous avons passé un très agréable weekend aux Hirondelles. Le cadre est ravissant, paisible, et le gîte encore mieux que sur les photos : bien équipé, confortablement meublé, avec une vue sur le jardin très bien entretenu. La grande baie vitrée donne la possibilité d’observer de jolis petits oiseaux. Nous avons aussi passé de belles soirée au coin du feu. David et Helen sont très accueillants, et attentionnés. Ils ont allumé le poêle avant notre arrivée et nous ont donné des idées de visites dans la région. Une seule petite chose à préciser (mais qui ne nous a pas dérangé), il peut y avoir un peu de bruit, si le 2e gîte mitoyen est occupé par quelqu’un. Encore un grand merci à David et Helen, nous recommandons vivement les Hirondelles et reviendrons sûrement passer un weekend prochainement !

We had a lovely weekend in Les Hirondelles. The setting is lovely, peaceful, and the cottage is even better than in the photos: well equipped, comfortably furnished, with a very well maintained view of the garden. The large glass window gives the opportunity to observe pretty little birds. We also had a lovely evening by the fire. David and Helen are very welcoming, and caring. They lit the stove before we arrived and gave us ideas for visits to the area. Only one small thing to specify (but which didn't bother us), there may be a little noise, if the 2nd adjoining cottage is occupied by someone. Another big thank you to David and Helen, we highly recommend the Hirondelles and will surely come back to spend a weekend soon!

Our fourth stay at La Martinière. We stay a few nights as we travel from Cornwall to Portugal and back again. Highly recommended as we find the place so comfortable after a long drive.
