Had a wonderful stay at 'La Martinière. Actually extended our stay one extra day! Luxury accommodation with bathrobes and a wonderful welcome basket. The host cooked dinner... Michelin quality... on two nights of our vacation. What a treat! Offered local knowledge of the real estate market in the area, as well as introducing us to an agent who showed us two affordable properties in this area. David and Helen were attentive to our every request. We loved staying here because of them. Hope to be back next year!

Nous avons passé un séjour merveilleux à « La Martinière ». Nous avons même prolongé notre séjour d'une journée ! Un hébergement de luxe avec des peignoirs et un superbe panier de bienvenue. L'hôte nous a préparé le dîner... une cuisine digne d'un restaurant Michelin... deux soirs pendant nos vacances. Quel régal ! Ils nous ont fait part de leur connaissance du marché immobilier local et nous ont présenté un agent qui nous a fait visiter deux propriétés abordables dans la région. David et Helen ont été à l'écoute de toutes nos demandes. C'est grâce à eux que nous avons adoré notre séjour ici. Nous espérons revenir l'année prochaine !

Diese Unterkunft ist ein absolutes Juwel! Wir hatten auf unserer Reise durch die Normandie fünf verschiedene Unterkünfte. Diese war wirklich die beste. Die Ausstattung ist super, alles wunderschön eingerichtet und bis ins Detail perfekt geplant! Der Ort ist eine absolute Oase der Ruhe. Unser einjähriger Sohn hatte die Möglichkeit auf den Rasenflächen zu Spielen und wir konnten dabei die Sonne genießen. David und Helen sind super Gastgeber. Das Abendessen und das Frühstück waren wirklich sehr, sehr lecker und Davids Ausflugstipps waren Gold wert. Er hat uns sogar eine Tisch für das Mittagessen in einem Lokal reserviert! Wenn ihr die Möglichkeit habt hier zu übernachten, zögert nicht. Wenn wir wieder mal nach Frankreich reisen kommen wir wieder! Carina, Max und Toni.

This place is an absolute gem! We stayed in five different places on our trip through Normandy. This really was the best one. The furnishings are great, everything is beautifully decorated and perfectly planned down to the last detail! The place is an absolute oasis of calm. Our one-year-old son had the opportunity to play on the lawns, and we were able to enjoy the sun at the same time. David and Helen are great hosts. The dinner and breakfast were really, really delicious, and David's tips for excursions were invaluable. He even reserved a table for us for lunch at a restaurant! If you have the opportunity to stay here, don't hesitate. If we travel to France again, we'll be back! Carina, Max, and Toni

We had a lovely stay at David and Helen’s gîte. Being able to enjoy a meal prepared by David on the day we arrived was absolutely brilliant and such a warm welcome! The breakfast was excellent too. We’d love to come back!

We returned for another few days as house hunting and spent 4 lovely days again at La Martinière. This time we were self sufficient and its been a home from home. Delphine, MamaCat and Rousse have been especially friendly. With Rousse found on the backseat of our car as we were departing. Think he thought he was going to come with us !! Thank you again.

Nous sommes revenus passer quelques jours supplémentaires pour chercher une maison et avons de nouveau passé quatre jours merveilleux à La Martinière. Cette fois-ci, nous étions autonomes et nous nous sommes sentis comme chez nous. Delphine, MamaCat et Rousse ont été particulièrement accueillants. Nous avons d’ailleurs retrouvé Rousse sur la banquette arrière de notre voiture au moment de partir. On dirait qu’il pensait qu’il allait venir avec nous !! Merci encore.

De omgeving is rustig, prachtig en landelijk. De tuin wordt door de eigenaren prachtig onderhouden. We werden heel hartelijk ontvangen; ze doen er alles aan om je te helpen. Je kunt er zowel een heerlijk ontbijt als een voortreffelijk diner bestellen. Ook is er uitgebreide informatie beschikbaar over bezienswaardigheden, net zoveel als je wilt. Alles wat je in de gîte nodig hebt, is aanwezig. Er is zelfs een vaatwasser; als je een magnetron nodig hebt, vraag het dan even en deze wordt op verzoek in de gîte geplaatst.

The setting is quiet, beautiful and rural. The garden is beautifully kept by the owners. We had a very friendly welcome, everything is possible to help you. From a great breakfast to excellent dinner can be ordered. Also lots of information to visit places of interest is as extensive as you want. Everything you require in the gîte is there. Even a dishwasher, if you require a microwave, ask and it will be put in cottage on request.

Thank you to both for a lovely few days at La Martinière in your gîte La Huppe. Qwe received a very warm welcome and enjoyed a superb dinner on our first night followed by an excellent full English breakfast the next morning. The gîtes has lots of lovely touches of detail, especially the wood burner and truely lovely bed linen and a huge bed !! Don't forget to have a cuddle with Delphine, she is a real sweetheart and knows where to go to find a comforatble chair. Many thanks again.

Merci à vous deux pour ces quelques jours merveilleux passés à La Martinière, dans votre gîte La Huppe. Nous avons reçu un accueil très chaleureux et avons savouré un superbe dîner le premier soir, suivi d'un excellent petit-déjeuner anglais complet le lendemain matin. Le gîte regorge de jolies petites attentions, notamment le poêle à bois, le linge de lit vraiment magnifique et un lit immense !! N'oubliez pas de faire un câlin à Delphine, c'est une vraie petite perle et elle sait où trouver un fauteuil confortable. Encore un grand merci.

Vrienden hadden ons La Martinière aangeraden nadat we waren aangekomen bij een B&B in de buurt van Mayenne, die we voor twee nachten hadden geboekt, maar die ons onhygiënisch en gewoonweg onbevredigend leek. Toen we David en Helen belden, voelden we meteen hun vriendelijkheid en bleek dat ze tot 21.00 uur nog plaats hadden. We pakten onmiddellijk onze spullen en reden rechtstreeks naar La Martinière. Bij aankomst werden we heel hartelijk en oprecht verwelkomd. De gîte was prachtig, comfortabel en brandschoon. Eindelijk konden we ontspannen, op adem komen en ons op ons gemak voelen. De volgende ochtend genoten we van een heerlijk ontbijt en op onze tweede avond kregen we een voortreffelijk, door David zelf bereid diner. Ze hebben ons op alle mogelijke manieren ondersteund tijdens onze zoektocht naar een huis. Ze hielpen ons met de vele vragen die we hadden over het kopen van een huis in Frankrijk. We voelden ons helemaal thuis en bevelen deze plek van harte aan. We waren diep geraakt en ontzettend dankbaar.

We were recommended La Martinière by friends after arriving at a B&B near Mayenne which we had booked for 2 nights and finding it unclean and just not satisfactory. Calling David and Helen we immediately felt kindness and found they had availablilty though 9.00pm. We packed up immediately and drove directly to La Martinière. When we arrived we found a very warm and heartfelt welcome. The gîte was beautiful, comfortable and spotlessly clean. We could finally relax, breath and feel at ease. We enjoyed a great breakfast the next morning plus also had an excellent home cooked dinner by David on our second evening. They supported us in every way as we were here house hunting. Helping out with the many questions we had about buying a house in France. We felt so at home and our heartfelt recommendation. We were deeply touched and incredibly grateful.

Helen und David haben uns in Ihrer Scheune ein sehr herzlich Willkommen bereitet und uns ab der Ankunft ein Gefühl von zuhause gegeben. Die Unterkunft war überdurchschnittlich gut ausgestattet und hat alles beinhaltet, was für einen sorglosen Aufenthalt nötig ist. In der Küche konnten wir an den Abenden wunderbar kochen, bevor wir es uns am Kamin gemütlich gemacht haben. Das Bett war fantastisch! Jeden Morgen mit einem leckeren Frühstück und einem netten Gespräch zu beginnen, hat uns sehr gefallen. Von Helen und David haben wir tolle Tipps für unsere Ausflüge erhalten, die unseren gesamten Aufenthalt wirklich bereichert haben. Man merkt, dass die beiden ganz viel Liebe in „La Martinière“ stecken. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Helen and David gave us a very warm welcome in their barn and gave us a feeling of home from the moment we arrived. The accommodation was exceptionally well equipped and included everything necessary for a carefree stay. In the kitchen we could cook wonderfully in the evenings before we made ourselves comfortable by the fireplace. The bed was amazing! We loved starting every morning with a delicious breakfast and a nice conversation. From Helen and David we received great tips for our excursions, which really enriched our entire stay. You can tell that the two put a lot of love into "La Martinière". We will be happy to come back!

A really amazing find. Peaceful, cosy, beautifully decorated with everything you need and more. The menu service is a real bonus and the food served is homemade and delicious. David & Helen are fabulous hosts and we would have no hesitation in staying again.

Nous avons passé 3 nuits au sein du gîte de David et Helen (gîte l’Hirondelle), et c’était génial. La maison est située dans la campagne, très au calme, et propice au repos.
